Strengthening Community Connections: Lord Mayor of Manchester Visits GBS Campus
The GBS team in Manchester had the honour of hosting the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Paul Andrews, to its campus last week.
Dr Dinesh Saraswat, Head of Community Outreach for GBS, led the tour, visiting multiple lectures and tutorials and showcasing the best of what our Manchester campus has to offer.
Dr Dinesh said building and maintaining relationships within all the GBS communities is critical to its current and future success.
“At GBS, we focus on student outcomes and the way in which this can benefit local communities and help them grow,” said Dr Dinesh.
“Nurturing relationships with stakeholders and members of all levels of government is a critical pillar of our overall goal, to change lives through education.
“It was an honour to host the Lord Mayor of Manchester today and introduce him to some of the students undertaking their studies in this wonderful part of the world.
“Giving people the chance to speak directly to our students really paints a clear picture of exactly what GBS is about – giving people the opportunity to fit their studies around their busy lives and take that next step in their career.”
The Lord Mayor of Manchester visited multiple classes, including Care, Compassion and Communication in Health and Social Care, as well as Introduction to Management as part of BSc Construction Management.
These visits involved interactive sessions with students, where they were able to express their drive and commitment to their courses and career success.
Following the visits, Dr Dinesh highlighted the growth and progress of GBS over the last 12 years, with particular focus on student outcomes and the positive impact on local communities.
