Global Banking School (GBS) recently hosted Reed’s ‘Embracing Diversity: How to Create a Truly Inclusive Culture’ event at our GEDU House - Stratford Campus, bringing together industry leaders and experts to discuss strategies for fostering truly inclusive workplace cultures.

The event, chaired by Iain MacLeod, DE&I Consultant at Reed Talent Solutions, featured an esteemed panel of speakers, including Lucy Morgan, CEO of Pod-Talent, Jackie Handy, Keynote Speaker & Workforce Culture Specialist, MK Kirigin, Global DEI Expert at London School of Economics and Political Science, and Ffion Owen, GBS Placement Manager. Each speaker shared their expertise on how organisations can turn diversity and inclusion principles into meaningful action.

The panel explored key topics such as breaking unconscious bias, creating equitable hiring practices, and ensuring representation at all levels of an organisation. The discussions underscored the importance of moving beyond rhetoric and embedding inclusive values into workplace policies and leadership approaches.

Ffion Owen highlighted the role of education in shaping inclusive workplaces: “At GBS, we recognise that fostering an inclusive culture starts with empowering future professionals with the right mindset and skills. Events like this provide a crucial platform for discussing real-world strategies that can drive change, ensuring that inclusivity is not just a conversation but a core organisational value.”

The event reinforced the need for businesses to take tangible steps towards inclusivity, with speakers offering actionable insights on how to create environments where everyone feels valued and respected. Attendees, including HR professionals, business leaders, and students, engaged in thought-provoking discussions and gained practical tools to implement in their workplaces.
